Will the Metaverse Affect Human Relationships? – A Tech With Heart Episode with Michelle Calloway
Blockchain, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, 5G, new world, immersive reality, metaverse…
What does all of this have to do with business?
The original internet as we know it was never intended to be more than an informational highway. It has evolved into a platform for eCommerce and financial trading, which is great, but unstable and unsecure.
As hackers continue to navigate around cyber security software, technologists have been busy building a new internet that is designed with security and commerce in mind. This new internet is being built on the blockchain.
Cryptocurrency (digital currency) will eventually replace the U.S. Dollars as the main form of money exchanges for goods over the new internet (on the blockchain). These systems are going to be far more transparent and secure, therefore drastically reducing fraud and theft.
With 5G speeds, and the increased integration of smart technologies such as artificial intelligence on the blockchain, businesses will thrive because of predictive insights and safe, quick exchanges of goods and services.
So, what is the Metaverse that some of the tech leaders are talking about?
Think of the Metaverse as a new immersive, purely digital world that people can enter for personal purposes, and for business transactions. The Metaverse will be built on top of the new internet that utilizes the blockchain.
Much like modern-day video games, each person will enter the Metaverse through a console, a smart device, or headset of some kind. Each person entering, will be represented in a 3D avatar form.
This new immersive world will be an optional place for conducting business. It will be a fascinating, highly addictive world where science, technology, and fantasy meet. It will feel somewhat realistic and will allow people to connect closely with one another, which is great for relationships that are physically separated by distance.
We have seen that doing business in a digital world is very possible as people were forced to shelter in place during the Covid pandemic. It is best to stay agile and adaptive with business practices, so the business remains competitive and relevant with the evolving business landscape changes.
As technology evolves, and popularity grows, virtual business experiences within the Metaverse will become more desired than traveling to distant cities and attending live business events.
Will the Metaverse affect human relationships?
The answer to this question is up to us humans, we the people. If we put personal relationships as a high priority in our lives and businesses, then we will not experience a loss of relationships as people move into spending more time in the Metaverse.
NOW is the time to nurture your relationships, both personal and professional.
What can you do to make sure your friends and loved ones stay close in relationship with you?
What can you do to make your customers feel valued, seen, heard, and appreciated?
Just like with any technology, or any change, there is a good side and a bad side.
Let’s choose to use these amazing new technologies for good, and hopefully, together, the good will outweigh the bad by a long shot.
